Tired of the Taipei department stores we found a new shoppping experience at the Fuhe Flea Market (Sunday mornings on the west side of the Fuhe Bridge). Much like back home this one was full of interesting second hand items. Don't be too friendly with the dogs or they might follow you home. Click on the photo to see what Swivel found.

Tubin' the Beishi River
Stoic and I headed out to Cloud 9 in Pinglin to go tubin' down the Beishi River. It was a blast!!!! The water was cold, or refreshing, and a little low but it was an awesome two hour ride with great friends. Plus, there was a nice fire and a tasty meal, with beer, waiting for us at the end!!!!!!

Marisa's Birthday Party

Northeastern Taiwan Coast Day Trip

What....an earthquake?
Yeah, an earthquake with a magnitude 6.5 shook Taiwan last night. Stoic and i slept through it while our coworkers in the same building were quite shaken up.

Typhoon Sepat
Yeah, typhoon Sepat hit Taiwan and it was pretty cool. Stoic and i stocked up on water and food and hunkered down. It wasn’t that strong just big...the center of the typhoon was 70 kilometers (43 miles) with sustained winds of 155 km (97 miles) per hour and gusts up to 191 km (120 miles) per hour. Our power went out in the middle of the night and it felt kinda eerie. The next day was pretty much normal just a few trees blown around and some damage to construction site walls.

Summer Vacation
Stoic and I left the main island for the Penghu islands just west of Taiwan. There we took a short ferry trip to Chipei island. Here we spent the next few days laying on the beach....it was awesome. We eventually went back to Makung for a night. There we had some of the best food we have had yet, here in Taiwan, and checked out some historic sites. Overall, it was the best vacation yet!!! Albee's Wedding Party
Today was Albee's wedding party. Everyone got their fancy duds on and showed up for lots of food (some strange) and drink. After the party we headed over to the pool hall (Kiss Ball) and played a few games and drank some Taiwan Pijiu.

A day @ the river!
Stoic and i along with some friends from work got up early on Sunday and road our scooters out of town to the river. We spent the day eating, drinking, and swimming. It was a great time with some really great people in an awesome place!!

Dasi/Daxi & Fulong Beach
Stoic and i went west on the train to Dasi Beach. It's a black sand beach with small waves and a lot of surfers. We weren't up for swimming with a bunch of surf boards so we took the train back to another beach in Fulong.

Beitou hot springs
Stoic Girl and i made it up north on the MRT to check out these cool hot springs. After checking out the stinky sulfur hot springs we went to some awesome outdoors citrus hot spring hot tubs....soooo nice!!

spring vacation
stoic girl and i went on a vacation from april 5th to april 8th. we headed south to kenting and kaohsiung. we both really enjoyed koahsiung, a laid back port city. kenting would have been very nice if it hadn't been spring break a.k.a. spring scream. there were lots and lots of folks there to rock-n-roll and make the scene. nevertheless, the beach was great, we had lots of good food, and relaxed!!

We got a scooter!!
Well, we wanted to not get a scooter....but we did. it simply makes it easier to get to the mountains, cool places, etc....we took the scooter to yingge a pottery city that has a ceramics museum. i know, sound kinda boring but it wasn’t, honestly!! then we went to the mountains for an easy hike to a temple. come evening time we scooted over to the night market and bought some veggies and fruit. the scooter is turning out to be a lot of fun. click on da photo to see the photos!

Gongshi, Gongshi (Let's be happy!)
So it was new years here and well...it was crazy. stoic and i had many, many days off from work so we went to lots of touristy places like Chiang Kai-shek memorial , Longshan temple , Snake Alley (Taipei's Famous Night Markets) , and the Sanxia new year party The Fat Pig !! Basically there where fireworks nonstop for 3 weeks straight ( we both got burned at least once!) and well.... not much sleep! we also did a bit of drinkin’ with new years friends @ roxy jr. and did some shopping and sushi eatin’. it was so,so, so nice! essential beer
beer is essential but not essential beer. after drinkin' this beer i felt toxicated!!
tzushr temple
SanXia, Taiwan is about 40 minutes SW of Taipei City. It is most famous for Tzushr Temple which was originally constructed in 1769. Sanxia also has an "old street" that has over 100 buildings dating from the early 1900's.
